Oblivion Review

smallposter_oblivionThe only forgiving feature of this sci-fi flick is that it looks good, but I wouldn’t expect anything less from the director of Tron: Legacy. Dull, predictable and instantly forgettable; Oblivion suffers from the classic problem of a good idea not being executed well.

There is simply not enough story to this two-hour-long awkwardly paced disappointment. Speaking of plot, Oblivion pulls points from far more endearing and entertaining films. I have to give it to Kosinski, it’s a brave man who attempts to recreate some of the finest sci-fi moments in cinema and pass them off as his own.

Thankfully Spielberg, Scott and Cameron won’t have to worry about Kosinski crowding their scene: Oblivion won’t be storming any award ceremonies any time soon.

But the soundtrack is so flipping cool! Surely that must be able to bump it up to a 5 at least?

I would have rather watched a movie about Morgan Freeman and the King Slayer. I went in expecting a lot more than a lame, derivative scifi film.
