October 2012

Sati (Margaret)

Sati (@lady_sati), from the wonderful Cinematic Corner has been a  long time supporter and promoter of Movie Writing. To say thank you, I made Sati my fan of the month for October.

I’ll also be reviewing a film of Sati’s choice when I finally catch up with all of my overdue reviews, so keep your eyes peeled!

What is your favourite film?

Black Swan. I love all the elements in it – the horror, the psychological thriller, forbidden love, finding your soul mate and overcoming your weaknesses. It’s such a great script and it was executed beautifully. Also I feel very strong connection to Nina, as I’m a lot like her.

What is your least favourite film?

Kick-Ass, I found the movie to be disgusting which would be fine if the jokes worked, but for me they didn’t. I just felt embarassed for people involved in this movie when I was watching it.

Who is your favourite actor/actress and what was their best film?

Actors – honestly that changes a lot, but if I were to say who are the actors that are the most talented in my opinion at this moment it’s Philip Seymour Hoffman and Tilda Swinton. Their best performances were Doubt and Julia.

Who’s your favourite director?

At the moment Darren Aronofsky.

Can you remember your first trip to the cinema, what did you see?

I used to go to see a lot of Disney movies with my dad and my cousin, I think it might have been The Lion King.

What was the last film you saw?

Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, it wasn’t great but it was lovely. Very unique film with beautiful ending.

What’s your guilty pleasure film?

Practical Magic. There aren’t many good movies about witches and this one is really fun. Nicole Kidman was amazing in it.
