With an indie trailer and a promising soundtrack, I was bound to leave Silver Linings Playbook on a high. Jennifer Lawrence’s brilliance only added to this high.
Bond is back in Skyfall and it’s just as brilliant as everyone says it is.
Taken 2 is the reason that studios should really think twice before committing to a sequel.
And the votes are in.. @RorschachReview
There’s no doubt about it: Argo is one of the best films of 2012.
Not even sweet animation can make up for Hotel Transylvania; the weakest of this year’s kids horror flicks.
I’m up for an award for best layout! You can see how to vote for me here.
In my attempt to catch up with my incredibly belated reviews, and try to clear the backlog; I’m writing very short reviews on some of the more disappointing films that have come out over the past few months. Next up: Silent Hill: Revelation 3D
In an attempt to play catch up with all over due reviews, I’m condensing the length of my standard reviews into mini ones on the less than impressive recent films. Without further ado, here’s my review of the mediocre Paranormal Activity. Same spooks, more gadgets.
@ShrewsburyFS kindly invited me to review Le Havre at one of their fortnightly showings. I was not disappointed, as this Finnish feel-good comedy is perfect for a Friday evening.
Even though I was a little disappointed that Rian Johnson’s Looper wasn’t quite what I expected, it’s still one of the most ambitious time travel films of all time.
Next in my incredibly belated Fan of the Month posts is Paul Thomas-Anderson’s There Will Be Blood: Slick Nick from Pop Peeling’s excellent recommendation.
